Get Started

Cisco Umbrella has a number of Application Programming Interfaces (APIs) that allow you to perform a variety of Umbrella-related functions without performing configuration steps in a dashboard or console.

Unless otherwise noted, the Umbrella APIs follow RESTful principles and use standard JSON format for input and output. All Umbrella APIs require authentication. Most use HTTP Basic Authentication with a username and password—referred to in Umbrella as a key and secret.

API availability is based on your Umbrella package. If you encounter a feature described here that you do not have access to, contact your sales representative for more information about your current package. See also, Cisco Umbrella Packages.
