Get Started

Umbrella DNS-layer security is straightforward to deploy and is effective in protecting your systems. We recommend that you deploy the DNS-layer security on all networks to protect users and devices. For more information about setting up Umbrella DNS-layer security, see Set Up DNS-Layer Security.

Before You Start

• Learn about the product features in your Umbrella package. For more information, see Determine Your Current Package.
• Log into Umbrella and identify your organization ID. You can locate your organization ID through your dashboard URL. For more information, see Find Your Organization ID.
• Review the Umbrella DNS policies and map out the internet entities and users and groups in your environment. For more information, see Manage Policies.
• Provision users and roles, and set up authentication. For more information, see Manage User Roles.

You can deploy various network entities, client connectors, and traffic forwarders with Umbrella.

Note: Cisco works in good faith with customers to resolve any excessive usage. If usage cannot be sufficiently reduced by a customer, it may become necessary to purchase additional Covered Users in order to reduce bandwidth or query limits to acceptable levels.
