Google Workspace Identity Service FAQs

Q: What is the Google Workspace identity service?
A: Google Workspace identity service is an enhancement to the Cisco Umbrella Unified Chromebook client. It enables you to use Umbrella policy enforcement based on your Google Workspace Organizational Units (OUs).

Q: Why is the Google Workspace super administrator's ID needed to enable this?
A: To query Google Directory Services using their API, Google requires the super administrator ID. Umbrella uses this ID only for querying Organizational Units and User mapping from the Google Directory Server.

Q: How long does it take for Google Workspace identities to appear in Umbrella?
A: Google Admin console Organizational Units and User information updates can take up to 60 minutes to appear in Umbrella.

Q: Can I use the Google Workspace identities feature without having the Cisco Umbrella Unified Chromebook client?
A: No. You can only use Google Workspace identities with the Cisco Umbrella Unified Chromebook client.

Q: How do I configure the Google Workspace Identity service?
A: See Integrate Google Workspace Identities with Umbrella.
