Application Settings

Application Settings is a policy component that enables you to configure groups of applications or application categories for blocking within a policy. Application Settings appear in the policy wizard when applying app controls to a policy:

Add a New Application Setting

  1. Navigate to Policies > Policy Components > Application Settings.
  2. Click the Add button to add a new setting.
  3. Choose which apps or app categories to block for this setting. You can also search for individual apps by name.

Each category features a drop-down that lists the apps blockable for that category. You can choose individual apps within categories to block or the entire category. When only a few apps within a category are selected the category name will have a dash mark. When an entire category of apps is selected, the box will be checked.

Application Block Precedence

An individual application Block will occur before a category block. If an application is blocked due to app control, a block page will be thrown with no option to bypass it.

  1. When an app is selected, a Block option with a gear icon appears to apply to the app. Click the gear icon to Block or Allow this app in this setting.
  1. Name your setting and click SAVE.

You can also add a new Application Setting in the policy wizard. When choosing an Application Setting to apply, there is an option to create a new application setting.

Edit an Existing Application Setting

  1. Navigate to Policies > Policy Components > Application Settings.
  2. Click on the Application Setting you wish to edit.
  3. The Application Setting configuration opens. Choose or deselect which apps and app categories you wish to block for this setting. You can also choose to rename the setting.
  4. Click SAVE to save the edits.

Delete an Existing Application Setting

  1. Navigate to Policies > Policy Components > Application Settings.
  2. Click on the Application Setting you wish to delete.
  3. Click DELETE to remove the Application Setting.
