The Cisco Umbrella module for Cisco Secure Client (formerly AnyConnect) provides always-on security on any network, anywhere, any time—both on and off your corporate VPN. When you install the Roaming Security module, it installs two services:
- DNS Security
- Secure Web Gateway Web Proxy
The DNS agent enforces security at the DNS layer to block malware, phishing, command and control callbacks over any port. The SWG Agent enforces security for all web traffic for full capabilities at the URL and data transit level. Both the DNS and SWG agents are deployed at installation; however, features will only be activated based on your subscription level and desired enablement settings.
DNS and SWG are configured with a single profile deployment (OrgInfo.json) and automatically activate the feature set enabled by your settings and license level. There is no separate configuration for adding SWG to a DNS deployment.
For existing Umbrella Roaming Client Deployments, the Cisco Secure Client Roaming Security module can replace your existing Umbrella Roaming Client. Access to Cisco Secure Client is included in most licenses. The roaming module allows full update control and greatly increased compatibility with VPN software. The Cisco Secure Client Umbrella module is the only Umbrella agent fully compatible with Cisco Secure VPN.
