Built-In Data Classifications

The system provides four different pre-defined data classifications. You can use the pre-defined data classifications in one of two ways:

You can create a custom data classification by copying a pre-defined data classification provided by the system, and customizing the copy. (See Copy and Customize a Data Classification. )
You can apply a pre-defined data classification provided by the system to a DLP rule or discovery scan. (See Add a Real Time Rule to the Data Loss Prevention Policy , Add a SaaS API Rule to the Data Loss Prevention Policy, and Discovery Scan).

Each of the built-in data classifications has a different set of built-in data identifiers associated with it. The built-in data classifications are:

PII Data Classification
Personal Information Identifiers; data that includes any personal information that may identify an individual, such as financial account numbers, medical records, passport or government identification numbers, or credit card numbers. The data identifiers associated with the PII Data Classification are:
PCI Data Classification
Data related to the Payment Card Industry. The data identifiers associated with the PCI Data Classification are:
GDPR Data Classification
Common personal data associated with the European Union’s General Data Protection Regulation. Customers can use these identifiers to support GDPR compliance within their organizations. The data identifiers associated with the GDPR Data Classification are:
HIPAA Data Classification
Personal medical and healthcare data associated with the United States’ Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act. Customers can use these identifiers to support HIPAA compliance within their organizations. The data identifiers associated with the HIPAA Data Classification are:
