Migration Scenarios
If you are an Umbrella Chromebook customer and are migrating to Cisco Security for Chromebook client, one of the following migration scenarios applies to you.
Important
Scenario 1 applies to Umbrella DNS customers. Scenarios 2 and 3 apply to Umbrella SIG customers.
Scenario 1
You are an Umbrella DNS customer, you have deployed the Cisco Umbrella Chromebook client, and want to migrate to the Cisco Security for Chromebook client.
What You Must Do:
Block or uninstall the Umbrella Chromebook app and extension and deploy Cisco Security for Chromebook client. For more information on Cisco Security for Chromebook client, see Get Started.
Scenario 2
You are an Umbrella SIG customer, have deployed Cisco Umbrella Chromebook client, and want to migrate to Cisco Security for Chromebook client.
What You Must Do:
Block or uninstall the Chromebook app and extension and deploy Cisco Security for Chromebook client. For more information on deploying Cisco Security for Chromebook client, see Deploy the Chromebook Client.
Optionally, you can enable SWG layer protection. Ensure that you add Chromebook-specific Web and DNS policies, and have the required root certificates installed on your Chromebooks.
Scenario 3
You are an Umbrella SIG customer, have deployed SWG Umbrella Chromebook client, and want to migrate to Cisco Security for Chromebook client.
What You Must Do:
Your client is automatically upgraded to Cisco Security for Chromebook client.
Optionally, you can enable DNS protection using DNS-over-HTTPS. For more information on deploying Cisco Security for Chromebook client, see Deploy the Chromebook Client.
Ensure that you add Chromebook-specific Web and DNS policies, and have the required root certificates installed on your Chromebook.
