Migration from Umbrella Roaming Client

The standalone Umbrella Roaming module is approaching end of support and is directly replaced by the Umbrella Roaming module in Cisco Secure Client.

The Umbrella Roaming module in Cisco Secure Client provides a more robust handling of DNS and web traffic using the Cisco Secure Client’s underlying driver technologies. Cisco Secure Client provides a greater level of compatibility and reliability than the legacy Roaming Client. For more information, see Benefits from upgrading Cisco Umbrella Roaming Client to Cisco Secure Client.

To upgrade an existing Roaming Client computer to the Umbrella Roaming module in Cisco Secure Client, install Cisco Secure Client using any of the previous guides of Deploy Umbrella module in Cisco Secure Client.

  • The existing Umbrella profile information (OrgInfo.json) from Roaming Client will be retained.
  • The standalone Umbrella Roaming Client will be automatically removed during installation.
  • Under no circumstances should both the Umbrella Roaming Client and Umbrella module be running. Ensure you have disabled any deployment tasks for the Umbrella Roaming Client to prevent re-installation.
