Get Started
Cisco Security for Chromebook client provides Chromebook users with options for both DNS layer and secure web gateway (SWG) protection. To enable DNS layer protection and/or SWG protection, install the Cisco Security for Chromebook client. DNS layer protection is provided using DoH (DNS over HTTPS) templates and SWG layer protection is provided using secure web-proxy setup on Chromebooks.
If you are a Cisco Umbrella Chromebook client user, or an SWG Umbrella Chromebook client user, see Migration Scenarios, before you deploy the Cisco Security for Chromebook client.
Policies
Policies are at the heart of Umbrella and define how security and access controls are applied to identities. A DNS policy provides DNS-layer visibility, security, and enforcement with the ability to selectively proxy risky domains for added security. Umbrella Web policy is used for the Umbrella Secure Internet Gateway (SIG) platform, providing URL-layer visibility, security, and enforcement for the web traffic of your organization. For more information, see Manage DNS Policies and Manage the Web Policy.
