G Suite Identity Service FAQ
Q: What is the G Suite identity service?
A: G Suite identity service is an enhancement to the DNS and SWG Umbrella Chromebook clients. It enables you to use Umbrella policy enforcement based on your G Suite Organizational Units (OUs).
Q: Why is the G Suite super administrator's ID needed to enable this?
A: To query Google Directory Services using their API, Google requires the super administrator ID. Umbrella uses this ID only for querying Organizational Units and User mapping from the Google Directory Server.
Q: How long does it take for G Suite identities to appear in Umbrella?
A: Google Admin console Organizational Units and User information updates can take up to 60 minutes to appear in Umbrella.
Q: Can I use the G Suite identities feature without having either DNS or SWG Umbrella Chromebook client?
A: No. You can only use G Suite identities with the DNS or SWG Umbrella Chromebook clients.
Q: How do I configure the G Suite service?
A: See Integrate the G Suite Identity Service.
